Most tiling failures start before the first tile goes on
Drummy floors, a hairline crack tracking along the shower hob, silicone peeling away from the screen. The cause is almost always underneath: sheeting that moved, a membrane that stopped short of the junction, a screed poured without a fall.
So the first day of every job goes on substrate. It is the least interesting part of the trade and the only part that decides whether the room is still sound in ten years.

Tight cuts around power points and window returns, mitred edges instead of plastic trim, and grout colour matched against the benchtop you already own.
Floors and large format
Self-levelling and screeding, back-buttered 600x1200 and 900x900 porcelain, laser-set lines that stay true from the hallway through to the living room.
Balconies, porches and alfresco
External-grade membranes, falls to drain, drainage flanges tied into the waste, and joints detailed to cope with the swing between a February afternoon and a July night.
Regrouting, resealing and repairs
Colour-matched regrout, silicone renewal, drummy tile replacement and leaking shower repairs, done without retiling the whole room where the substrate is still sound.
How a job runs
Four stages, and you know the date of each one
Tiling sits between the plumber, the plasterer and the glazier. Half of a clean job is knowing when to be on site and when to stay off it.

The finish
The parts you notice from the doorway
Nobody inspects a bathroom with a moisture meter. People stand at the door and read the lines. These are the things we are judged on, so these are the things we set out for first.
Grout lines that carry across the room
Floor joints line up with wall joints and continue through the doorway, rather than restarting at every surface.
Cuts kept off the eye line
Full tiles where you look first, cuts tucked behind the door, under the vanity and above the ceiling line.
Mitred corners instead of trim
Where the tile body allows it, external corners are mitred and glued, so there is no strip of plastic reading down the wall.
Silicone in every change of plane
Wall to floor, wall to wall, around the bath lip. Tooled in one pass, with no smear left on the glass or the stone.
Niches sized to the tile
The shelf lands on a grout line and the niche returns are full tiles, so the recess looks planned rather than cut into place.
Thresholds finished flush
The transition to carpet, boards or the next room sits level, so nothing catches a bare toe or a vacuum head.

Questions we are asked on almost every quote
How long does a full bathroom take?
Most bathrooms run five to eight working days of tiling once the room is stripped and the plumber has finished rough-in, plus a cure day after the membrane that cannot be rushed. The day count goes in the quote, and if it slips we tell you the same day rather than the day after.
Do you supply the tiles, or should I?
Either works. Plenty of clients buy from the tile shops along Warrigal Road and Princes Highway and we set what they have chosen. If you would rather not spend three Saturdays shopping, we bring samples in your budget and order the right quantity with a proper wastage allowance so you are not chasing a second batch in a different shade.
Do I get waterproofing documentation?
Yes. Membranes are installed to AS 3740 and photographed at each coat. You receive the product details and the stage photos, which is what a building surveyor or a future buyer will ask for.
Can a leaking shower be fixed without retiling?
Often, yes. If the substrate is sound and the water is escaping at the joints, a regrout, a silicone renewal and a re-seal will hold. If water has been sitting behind the sheeting for years, we say so rather than sell you a patch that fails next winter.
Will you tile over existing tiles?
On floors, sometimes: the existing bed has to be sound, well bonded and you need the height for the doors. On walls and inside wet areas we prefer to strip back, because a membrane laid over old glaze is only as reliable as whatever sits under it.
