Tiling Oakleigh is a small setting crew working out of Oakleigh, across Melbourne's south-east. No showroom, no sales team, no subcontracted second shift.
How we got here
The jobs we were called back to fix taught us the most
A large share of our work has always been repair: showers that leaked into the hallway carpet, balcony tiles lifting in sheets, a kitchen splashback with cuts pushed hard against the range hood. Pulling apart other people's work for years is a blunt education. You stop trusting anything you cannot see.
That is why our quotes read the way they do. The membrane, the screed and the prep are priced as line items rather than folded into a per-square-metre rate, because those are the lines a cheap quote quietly deletes. If two prices are a thousand dollars apart, the difference is almost always sitting under the tile.
We keep the crew small on purpose. One tiler measures your room, sets it, grouts it and walks you through it at the end. Nobody arrives on Wednesday with a different idea about the set-out.
A tiled room is a waterproofing job with a decorative finish. Treat it the other way around and it fails.

The price is the price
Once the quote is written and accepted it stands, unless you change the tile, the layout or the scope. Rot found under a floor is discussed and priced before anyone touches it, in writing, not shouted over a drill.

Your house stays usable
Dust barriers at the door, drop sheets on the route in, water restored at the end of the day where the plumbing allows. Offcuts leave with us rather than living on the nature strip for a fortnight.

We tell you what we would not do
If your budget is better spent on a full strip-out than on new tiles over a suspect floor, we will say so and hand back the smaller job. A patch that fails in two winters costs us more in reputation than it earns today.

The record goes to you
Membrane products, batch numbers, adhesive type, grout colour and stage photos. Useful when you sell, useful if a plumber ever needs to cut into the wall, and it keeps us honest.
The area
Built for the housing stock around Oakleigh
The south-east is a mix of post-war brick, seventies units and new double-storey builds, and each one fails differently. The brick veneers bring us timber floors that flex and need sheeting or a screed. The unit blocks bring us balconies where the original fall runs the wrong way. The new builds bring us 1200mm porcelain that has to be back-buttered and lifted by two people.
Working the same handful of suburbs means we already know what is likely behind the wall before the first sheet comes off, and we price accordingly instead of guessing high.
